Faculty affiliated with Latin American & Caribbean Studies bring students on off-campus study programs on a regular basis. These enriching experiences are great ways to meet people from other parts of Las Américas and to learn on-site. Some current and recent study abroad sites have included:
- Havana, Cuba (May 2017)
- Costa Rica (ongoing service learning abroad and advanced Spanish-language summer courses)
Students are also encouraged to pursue Direct Exchange opportunities and Third Party Programs in consultation with the Study Abroad office at UT.
Latin American and Caribbean studies majors and minors have experiential learning opportunities through off-campus service learning experiences at locations in and around Knoxville. Some students engage in service learning by connecting with Latin American and Caribbean community members in the public school and health care systems. Please see below for a list of current and future opportunities:
- Centro Hispano
- Knox County Public Schools English Language Learners
- Loudon County Welcome Center for English Language Learners
